Year 10 - Curriculum Information

Year 10 GCSE PE students study the first year of the 2 year Edexcel course which is 50% practical and 50% theory (40% exam + 10% controlled assessment). In year 10, GCSE PE students will have two theory and one practical lesson each week.  The theory lessons include homework and regular unit tests. The curriculum games lesson is also used as a PE practical lesson allowing greater focus on the theory work. The coursework elements will be started in the summer term.
 

Year 11 - Curriculum Information

Year 11 GCSE PE students study the second year of the 2 year Edexcel course which is 50% practical and 50% theory (40% exam + 10% controlled assessment). In year 11, the coursework elements including the Personal Exercise Plan and the Analysis of Performance will be completed and GCSE PE students will have two theory and one practical lesson each week.  The theory lessons will include homework and regular unit tests. The curriculum games lesson is also used as a PE practical lesson allowing greater focus on the theory work.
 

Key Stage 4 - How parents/carers can support their child

Help students to organise the correct kit for each lesson and maximise participation.

GCSE PE students can be supported with help organising kit and theory work. They also need to continue to be involved in extra-curricular and out of school sport.
