KS4 Religious Ed (Short Course)

Year 10 - Curriculum Information

All students gain a recognised qualification in Religious Studies at the end of year 11

GCSE short course – first half of AQA syllabus A applied ethics (3 of 6 units)

All units are studied from Christian and non religious view points

  1. Right to Life – Abortion and Euthanasia, and their ethical implications.
  2. Personal Responsibility – Sexual behaviour, and drug and alcohol use, and their ethical implications.
  3. Global Concerns – Environmental issues, and poverty, and their ethical implications. 
     

Year 11 - Curriculum Information

All students gain a recognised qualification in Religious Studies at the end of year 11

GCSE short course – AQA syllabus A applied ethics (final 3 of 6 units), 1 exam worth 100% taken at the end of year 11 and lasting 90 minutes.

  1. Social responsibility – Marriage, the family, and prejudice and discrimination, and their ethical implications.
  2. Conflict – War (including nuclear war), and crime and punishment.
  3. Exam skills, ethical debate and revision.
