Recap on modern texts from year 9:

Paper 2Modern texts and poetry – 2 hour 15 minutes – 96 marks – 60% of GCSE

Section A – Choose 1 out of a choice of 2 on An Inspector Calls/Lord of the Flies/Animal Farm

 

 

Paper 1Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing – 1 hour 45 minutes – 80 marks – 50% of GCSE

Section AUNSEEN literature fiction text (from the 20th century) and answer questions

Section BDescriptive or narrative writing (E.g. description of a picture or opening of a story)

Paper 2Writers’ Viewpoints and Perspectives – 1 hour 45 minutes – 80 marks  - 50% of GCSE

Section Aread a non-fiction text (E.g. A 2013 Observer article on ‘Could you do your child’s homework?’) and one literary non-fiction text (E.g. two letters from 19th Century). Linked in theme – analysis of both sources and comparison question.

Section BWriting to present a viewpoint (E.g. Write an article for a broadsheet newspaper, stating your views on homework)
