A real pleasure to host so many schools at King's for a Junior Stretch and Challenge Conference. See you all again… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
The U15 Rugby Team were crowned Lancashire Vase Champions with a 17-14 victory over Standish High School from Wigan. In what has already been an exceptional season for school rugby with the U14's reaching the Lancashire Cup final and the U13's and U14's both winning 18 of their 21 matches in the year so far, the year 10's were next in winning another title for the school. In a campaign that has seen them defeat the likes of Wilmslow, West Hill, Clitheroe and St Ambrose, the boys went in in good form and started the final in clinical fashion with Thomas Milner grabbing the first score. Jacob Hadfield was next to cross, a player who has already attracted the attentions of the Sale Sharks Development coaches and who played brilliantly on the Easter Tour of Spain.
Audenshaw opened up a 17-0 advantage when Oliver Lamb grabbed the third try from close range and it appeared as though the outcome would be a comfortable one. Standish, however, rallied late in the game with two scores of their own to bring it back within three points but a resolute defensive effort from the red and whites ensured that the title would be heading to Manchester.
