The Year 10 Rugby Team travelled to Cheadle Hulme School on Tuesday 15th October for their opening fixture of the RFU Schools National Plate. The boys were meticulous and focused in every aspect of the game from the warm up until the final minute and were well deserved victors with a 45-0 scoreline.
The forwards dominated the game making valuable yards up the pitch through their relentless picks at the back of the ruck and well timed and carries off 9. J. Hibbert was tremendous in defence and attack as was man of the match K. Boateng. The back row players ensured that Audenshaw retained possession for much of the match; a key moment was when D. O'Loughlin scored a wonderful try covering 60m of ground after forcing his way through the Cheadle line.
The backs had chance to show their pace and skills also as C. Scanlon organised his line perfectly from 10; his decision making and pass precision created many of the Audenshaw tries. J. Frost was exceptional in defence. Covering the 6ft 4 Cheadle Hulme centre, Frost made every tackle and ensured that the Audenshaw line was never breached. Whenever substitution changes were made, the boys coming on fit seamlessly into the game, a credit to the ability and morale of this under 15 squad. The boys look forward now to seeing who will be victorious between Carnforth and rivals Stonyhurst for the next round of the competiton.
Training continues, as ever, this week and next.
Well done year 10.
