The Audenshaw Sharks Swim Team were in stunning form on Friday as they claimed the gold medal in the 4x50m freestyle relay and silver in the 4x50m medley relay. The intermediate boys line up of Alex Campbell, Kian Tevlin, Wunnai Tam and Jolan Bennett will now progress to the ESSA National Championship Finals at the Olympic Park in London for the second time in the last three years.
The Junior Boys team led by multi sports ace and Victor Ludorum Winner 2017, Nathan Clare, started the night off for the Audenshaw Sharks, finishing with a time of 2.40.80 in the medley relay. Harrison Stopford registered a 44.30 on the back followed by Clare with a 43.60 in the breastroke. Next up was year 7 rising star, Caden Bennett who swam a superb 27.10 in the fly with Saul Inglis bringing the team home with a 35.80 in the free.
The senior boys team included the impressive Sharks veteran of five years, Harry Rider, who came second in both of his relay legs, new skipper, Sam Owen who led the team with distinction and Rory Lees and Sam Doherty whose splits of 28.50 and 28.70 respectively in the freestyle relay were amongst the top performances of the night.
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the intermediate freestyle relay where splits of 28.50, 28.50, 28.60 and 26.50 for Tam, Campbell, Tevlin and the outstanding Bennett brought home the top prize for Audenshaw.
This crowned a superb evening for the Sharks who now look forward to attempting to reclaim their QEGS Blackburn Invitational Title on Monday afternoon.
